Yosemite Valley

It has been some time since I had last been to Yosemite. In late February, I had a chance to meet up with Eric and Noel and spend some time in the park. Our trip landed towards the tail end of the Firefall window and we were a little concerned that the park would be overrun with people. I have always wanted to experience the event but not at the cost of dealing with massive crowds, traffic and stress. Given there wasn’t enough snowmelt the annual Firefall was likely not going to happen this year. Either way, we were excited to catch up with one another and hopefully make some images of the park. On the final day we were blessed to get some snowfall in the park. It added some nice atmosphere to the already beautiful landscape.

It had been a few months since I last seen Eric and Noel. These trips are a great time to practice the craft of photography, flex our creative sides but more importantly to catch up with all the life and career updates. A lot happens between the times we get to see each other on these photography trips. It was great to hear that the guys have been doing good.

We had a blast exploring the park for the next few days. One of the photographic goals on this trip was to try and focus in more on textures, patterns and really try to train my eye to see something different. Making images of the iconic scenes is great (I do it all the time) but I find it really rewarding when I can make an impactful image or two from a location that isn’t the iconic shot. Below are a few of my favorite images from this past visit to Yosemite National Park.

I hope to return again soon. Thank you for reading. - Marco
