Deca - A Retrospective

Hidden within a suburban neighborhood sits a park that holds so much meaning to me. It is where I could quickly go for peace; to slow the world down even for a short while. I have so many fond memories of the park; picnics, countless sunrises and solitude. It is also the first place I went with my first DSLR camera.

Ten years later, It is still the location I have spent the most time making images at. In many ways, it’s been my classroom. It is where I would first go to hone the fundamentals, experiment with new techniques (often failing) or test new pieces of kit. All of which, would became a part of me for all future road-trips.

This project is a retrospective of my first ten years with the craft that has meant so much to me, shaped me and calmed me. As I look back at these moments from this small park, I remember with fondness all the things i’ve learned about photography along the way. And although I have learned a lot since I started, there is still so much I don’t know and many areas I need much improvement on. I am happy there is still so much opportunity to learn and grow. It is truly a beautifully unending and enjoyable craft if you want it to be.

I look forward to seeing what tomorrow (and the next ten years) brings.
